Freelance Interactive Designer: 2002 to Present

Contract designer/art director on multidisciplinary teams within premier advertising and promotions agencies (including Behavior, DRAFTFCB, Leo Burnett, Capps Digital, Digitas, etc.) and as the solo designer/developer for independent recording artists, filmmakers, non-profits, and smaller individual clients.

  • Created web site interfaces; both visual design as well as developing custom HTML/CSS.
  • Enhanced web site accessibility, usability, and SEO with web standards and valid, semantic markup.
  • Designed and developed Flash components, both as part of larger sites as well as full Flash interfaces.
  • Configured, managed and created templates for Content Management Systerms (Movable Type, Wordpress, Textpattern). Also worked within custom CMSs (XML & XSLT-based) working closely with backend developers to maintain HTML validity and consistency.
  • Consulted on branding/identity, from concepting, brainstorming and illustration to logo/identity development and design.
  • Concepted, designed and developed online advertising banner campaigns.

Clients Included: Merck Pharmaceuticals, Country Crock/Unilever, Allstate Insurance, PostX, Beck’s Beer, Lexar and Best Buy, etc.

Associate Art Director: Playboy Enterprises, Inc., June 2008 to February 2009

  • Designed original features for Playboy.com free site, in conjunction with editorial staff. I was responsible for the complete design (graphics/HTML/CSS) of a feature, and often for entire editorial franchises.
  • Adapted Playboy magazine print content to Playboy.com use.
  • Designed graphics and interface elements for Playboy-branded Flash games
